Amos Atkinson

May 21, 1945 — June 11, 2009

Amos Andrew Atkinson, 64, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born May 21, 1945 in Bartow County, he was the son of Ruth Gravley Atkinson and the late Ernest Andrew Atkinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Atkinson, and his sister, Sally Banks. Amos loved the outdoors and music and was a member of Landmark Holiness Church.



Survivors include his mother, Ruth Atkinson of Cartersville; his sons, Andy Atkinson, Amos �Bit� Atkinson, John Atkinson, and Ernest Atkinson, all of Cartersville; his daughters, Martha Chappell of White and Amanda Higgins of Fairmount; his sisters, Mary Vaughan of Cartersville, Ann Fox of White, and Shirley Ray of Cartersville; and fifteen grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. I.L. Smith and Rev. Shane Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Shinall Cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie England, Jerry Fox, Ricky Hardman, Raymond Banks, Brad Cross, and Lester Fox. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.



The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
