Amy Estes

Mrs. Amy Lou Estes, age 91, of 32 Hickory Street, the Riverside Community, Rome, GA, died Friday afternoon, November 5, 2004, in a local nursing facility following a brief illness.Mrs. Estes was born in Cherokee County, Alabama, July 8, 1913, daughter of the late Charlie Columbus and Minnie Lou Clark Knighten, but had spent the greater part of her life in Rome and Floyd County. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was married to Dennis Roger Estes, September 2, 1934 and he preceded her in death May 25, 1979; she was also preceded in death by two children, Deborah Lynn Estes in 1951 and Larry Dennis Estes in 1952, by a sister Willie C. Brown and a brother, Harold Knighten. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.Survivors include; a daughter, Betty Estes of Rome, GA, two sons and daughter in law; Charles Estes of Rome, GA, and Ray and Mary Estes of Dallas, GA, one sister, Ruby Smith of Center, AL, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Lou Estes will be held at 2 PM Monday November 8, 2004, in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Bowen and Parnick Jennings, Sr., officiating.
