Angela Sue Disher, 62, of Cartersville, Georgia sadly passed away at the Townsend Park Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with multiple sclerosis on December 7, 2021.
Angie was born April 28th and was brought home by C.P. and Willie Disher. Named because she was an angel… try as she might to disabuse people of this notion, those who knew her would tell you that she really was. As a child she (and her sister Pam) were known to tell her brother Mark that there was a rocket landing at Grandaddy's house just so the sisters could share the last Pepsi. As a young woman, she could be seen flying down the country roads (and some country fields) with friends in her car. As an adult, Angie was an avid Dale Earnhardt Sr. racing fan and could be seen on Sundays with her headphones on, listening to the race and rocking in her chair almost as fast as the black number 3 went around the track. (She was even known to throw the headphones across the room when things didn't go Dale Sr's way much to the delight of her niece and the chagrin of her father.) She also read every book written by Nicholas Sparks and loved Oak Grove Moravian Church, which she sorely missed attending.
In her twenties, Angie was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and this may have changed the course of her life, but it didn't change her spirit. She was full of joy and a welcoming spirit that made her friends wherever she went. She will be deeply missed.
Angela Sue Disher is preceded in death by her father and mother, C.P. and Willie Disher of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, her grandfather C.P. Disher Sr., and aunt Mary Holleman. She is survived by her Aunt Bessie Beauchamp, sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Pam Warren of Acworth, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Teri Disher of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; niece, Meredith Wann and her husband, Charles; niece Megan Bradley, her husband Cory and their children Madison and Savannah, several cousins, and friends too countless to mention individually but this writer would be remiss if she didn't mention Randy Dillon of Walkertown for his kind friendship.
Thank you also, to the caregivers at Townsend Park of Cartersville, Georgia who cared for Angie in the last few months of her life. She was so happy in your care and the work you do matters and is deeply appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Oak Grove Moravian Church in Winston Salem, NC to honor the life of Angela Disher.
