Mrs. Ann Williamson Stuart Floyd died Friday, May 22, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Floyd was born in Ramsey, New Jersey on April 4, 1925, the daughter of the late John B. Williamson and Pamelia Raine Winder Williamson. She moved with her family to Cranford, NJ where she attended the public schools. She then attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA for two years. Mrs. Floyd worked in New York City before becoming a stewardess for American Airlines. She later worked in the Jacksonville, FL home office of Independent Life Insurance (now AIG) where she earned a fellowship in life and health insurance underwriting.
In 1948 she married Jack E. Stuart who died in 1957. In 1965 she married Norwood S. (Bud) Floyd of Plainville, GA and he died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Danley of CA and her brother, John Williamson of FL.
Mrs. Floyd became a resident of Floyd County in 1993. She was a master gardener in both Florida and Georgia and used her gardening skills to maintain the grounds of Transfiguration Episcopal Church where she was a communicant. She also served the church Vestry and as Junior Warden and chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee.
She is survived by her step-mother, Eleanor J. Williamson and her sister-in-law, Peggy Williamson of Florida.
Mrs. Floyd donated her body to Emory University Medical School. A memorial service will be held at Transfiguration Episcopal Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 4:00 P.M. with the Reverend Michael Owens officiating. Mrs. Floyd�s church family will receive friends in the parish hall following the service.
