Avalene Maxwell

Avalene N. Maxwell, 86, of Canton passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 11, 1924 in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Claude A. Tucker and the late Martha Jane Crane Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Maxwell who died in 2003.



Avalene was formerly a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts and listening to Elvis Presley.



Survivors include her son, Jimmy Maxwell of Canton; her daughter, Delores Grogan of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens in Rome at a later date.



The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
