Avanelle C. Layton, 62, of Emerson passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Heartland Hospice House. Born November 14, 1946 in Polk County, she was the daughter of Pauline Nelson Coalson and the late Earl Coalson. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry Andrews.
Avanelle was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was a retired bookkeeper with the Bartow County School System. She loved her church and taking trips with her sisters. One of her hobbies was collecting cows and bells.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Joel Layton of Emerson; her son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Kristen Layton of Powder Springs; her mother, Pauline Coalson of Smyrna; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne Andrews of Birmingham, Alabama, Linda and Jerry Beets of Savannah, Paula and Bob Lowder of Kennesaw, Carol and Wayne Waddell of Smyrna, and Dottie and Phil Taylor of Rome; and a very special friend, Mary Kate Sweat.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Clinton Green, Rev. Morris Bearden, and Mr. Fred Harris officiating. Mrs. Layton will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Pine Grove Baptist Church.
