Barbara Lambert

Mrs. Barbara Jean �Nanny� Wilkins Lambert, age 74, of Carrollton, GA formerly of Rome, GA passed away Thursday May 13, 2010 at the residence of her daughter. She was surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer�s disease.



Mrs. Lambert was born in Bartow County, GA on March 9, 1936 to the late John LeRoy Wilkins and Addie Eugenia Wilkins-Holden. Mrs. Lambert was a homemaker and a member of the Deeper Life Christian Center and in recent years attended the Temple Church of Christ in Temple, GA. She loved going to church, listening to gospel music and being with her family. Mrs. Lambert was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. All who loved and knew her called her �Nanny�. In addition to her parents Mrs. Lambert was preceded in death by her husband, William �Hardy� Lambert; a daughter, Shirley Jean Lambert; a brother Roy Wilkins; a sister Jewell Drummond; grandchildren, Tiffany Hembree and Tom Rego.



Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Colin Deal of Granite Falls, N.C. Sylvia and Horace Hembree of Temple, GA, Carmen and Randal Childers of Fairmount, GA, Lisa and Keith Karr of Carrollton, GA and Vickie and Jeff Smith of Rome, GA; a son, Shane Hembree of Temple, GA; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Lavader Freeman and her husband Ross of Rome, GA, Lois Molock and her husband Larry of Rome, GA and brother-in-law, Earl Drummond of Rome, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday May 15, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Colin Deal and Josh Karr delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Old Nazareth Baptist Church Cemetery in Forney, AL.



The family received friends Friday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel.



Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Josh Karr, Donny Karr, Chris Karr, Matthew Rego, Wil Rego and Linh Nguyen.
