Mrs. Beatrice Virginia Hammonds Clonts, age 81, of Rome, GA, died Friday, January 23, 2009, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Clonts was born in Floyd County on February 13, 1927. She was a member of Armuchee Baptist Church. Mrs. Clonts worked at Parrish Bakery and Integrated Products. She enjoyed going to church, working in her garden, country-side drives and most of all spending time with her family. Mrs. Clonts was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Hoke Clonts who passed in recent years.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Hoke Clonts, whom she was married to on May 23, 1943; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Will and Jeannie Clonts and Rev. Glenn and Diane Clonts; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dewayne Lee Clonts, Kim and Gary Cole, Nathan and Taylor Clonts, Patrice Clonts and Liam Shannon, Michael Clonts; two great-grandchildren, Breanna Cole and Hunter Cole.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 25, 2009, at 3:00 P.M. in the McGuire, Jennings, and Miller Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Will Clonts, Rev. Glenn Clonts, and Rev. John Moates officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel Sunday by 2:30 P.M.: Dewayne Clonts, Nathan Clonts, Michael Clonts, Gary Cole, Liam Shannon, and Glenn Clonts. The honorary pallbearer will be Hunter Cole.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Joseph Herren, Dr. Greg Rogers, Dr. Jeffrey Glass; all the staff of the ICU, the fifth floor nurses at Redmond Medical Center, and to a special friend, Tony Tennyson.
