Bernice Robinson

Mrs. Bernice Aldridge Robinson, age 87, of 646 Elliott Drive, Rome, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2004.Mrs. Robinson was born on February 2, 1917 in Haralson County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late John T. Aldridge and Cora Goggins Aldridge. She had spent all of her adult life in Rome. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the North Rome Church of God and a member of Dorcas Sunday School Class. She served in many positions such as Sunday School Teacher, YPE secretary and treasurer and Sunday School secretary and treasurer. She retired in June 1984 from Floyd Medical Center, where she was chief technician in central supply on 2nd shift. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Terina Robinson, who passed away at the tender age of 7. Also preceding her was her parents, three sisters, Mane Aldridge, Gladys Adams, Zelma Chandler and three brothers, Stanley Aldridge, Raiford Aldridge and Wyatt Aldridge.Mrs. Robinson is survived by a daughter, Lynda Joan Robinson Acrey and son in-law, Jerry W. Acrey, Sr. with whom she lived; one grandson, Jerry W. Acrey, Jr. and his wife, Robin; granddaughter, Terina Acrey Highfield and her husband, Sammy Highfield;. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Brad and Josh Acrey of Rome and Zack and Haley Highfield of Centre, AL; one brother, Ralph Aldridge of Rome; two sisters, Agnes Ware of Rome and Eunice Spearman of Tallapoosa, GA. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral services for Mr. Robinson will be at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home at 11:00 am. , Thursday, June 3rd with Rev. Harold Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel, Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence, 646 Elliott Drive.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 10:30 am and include the following, Jerry Acrey, Jr., Brad Acrey, Sammy Highfield, Zack Highfield, Wayne Casey and Clifford Casey.
