Bertha Anderson

Mrs. Bertha F. Ortiz Anderson, age 88, of 11 Westdale Avenue, Rome passed away on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the residence.Mrs. Anderson was born on July 24, 1916 in Floyd County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William and Ethel Ortiz. She was a member and former chaplain of the Salvation Army and Ladies Home League. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Rome Sunshine Band and was the last surviving member of the band. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Louis Anderson on June 14, 1993 and one sister, Rosita Sunrich.Survivors include three sons and daughters in-law, Bobby Lewis and Penny Anderson of Rome, John and Lois Anderson of Shreveport, LA and Richard Warren Anderson of Rome; one sister, Frances Jones of Rome; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson will be held at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, Monday, November 15th with Mr. J. Parnick Jennings, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the Oaknoll Chapel on Sunday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. At other hours the family may be contacted at 11 Westdale Avenue, Rome.Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 Monday and include , Mike Johnson, Bill Helms, Steve Lloyd, Mark Canada, Mark Anderson and Mitch Anderson.
