Bessie Burnette

Mrs. Bessie Glynece Burnette, age 73, of 221 East Little Indian Trail, Rome, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at her residence.

Mrs. Burnette was born in Gordon County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Glen Hand and Helen Causby Hand. She was a member of Shepard Chapel and worked as a nurse for a number of years. Mrs. Burnette loved spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Burnette, to whom she was married, May 11, 1984; two sons, Bill (Michele) Sims and Mike Sims, both of Rome; step-daughters, Sharon (Roy) Cunningham, Ft. Valley, GA, Joni Baldwin, Warner Robins, GA and Jamie Burnette of Warner Robins, GA; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Lamar (Jackie) Hand of Rome.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 am at the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Youngblood officiating. Rev. Gram Gresham will give the eulogy.
