Mrs. Bettie Rae Nix, 66, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at her residence.

Born December 3, 1945 in Tallahassee, Florida she was the daughter of the late Harvey Smith and the late Daisy Whitfield Smith. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Smith and Alvin Smith.

Bettie was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was the life of the family. Bettie loved to laugh, travel, and shop for antiques, but most of all she loved her family.

Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, James Earl Nix; her daughter, Tina Marie Knickerbocker of Cartersville; her son, Kenneth Thomas Nix of Cartersville; her granddaughters, Sherri Wade of Cartersville and Lori Beth Knickerbocker of Cartersville; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Linda Smith of Cleveland, Ohio; Ira and Gertie Smith of Woodville, Florida and Trixie Lee and Connie Smith of Woodville, Florida; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and Mark Crago Tallahassee, Florida; Ellen and Harold Nix of Jasper, Georgia; Margie Smith-Harden and husband Bill of Tallahassee, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Her final resting place will be in Woodville, Florida.
