Betty Joyce Dorsey, 69, of Cartersville passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at her residence. Born February 9, 1941 in Marietta, she was the daughter of the late Henson Clay Dorsey and the late Edna Louise Duckett Dorsey Chumley. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Jerry Nicholson; her brother, Henry Clay Dorsey; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Duckett and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dorsey; and her great-nephews, Rylan Payne and Brandon Cantrell.
Joyce had retired from K Mart after thirty-four years of employment. Years ago before her career with K Mart, she had also worked at The Big Chicken in Marietta. Joyce loved trips to the mountains especially during the fall season. She collected owls and was a word search and cross word puzzle enthusiast. She also loved her dog, Harley.
Survivors include her sister, Katherine Payne of Cartersville; her nieces and nephews, Sheila and Bobby Cantrell of Dawsonville, Carolyn and Tommy Eddy of Cartersville, and Michael Payne of Dawsonville; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Jessi Cantrell, Drake Eddy, Drew Eddy, Katelin Payne, and Levi Payne; and several cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Tim McCulley officiating. Burial will follow in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Payne, Drake Eddy, Justin Keys, Bo Stover, and Tommy Eddy. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. on Thursday.
The family will receive friends from 6 � 9 p.m. Wednesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
