Betty Elizabeth Elrod

Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Sligh Elrod, 73, of Cartersville, widow of the late George Junior Elrod, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her residence.

Born April 13, 1939 in Cartersville, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Sligh and the late Alma Chapman Sligh. Mrs. Elrod was of the Baptist Faith and a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Elrod; brother, Mack Thomas; and sisters, Wylene Powell and Omie Mullinax.

Survivors include her daughters, Jackie Meadows and her husband Harold of Cartersville, and Lisa Dover and her husband Ronald of White; sons, Darrell Elrod of Cartersville, and Danny Elrod of Dawsonville; sister, Virginia Weathersbee of Augusta; grandchildren, Brandon Meadows, Jessica Meadows, Tamara Simmons, Alesha Mooney, and Carey Slocum; great-grandchildren, Austin Simmons, Leigha Slocum, Morgan Tidwell, Dakota Simmons, Kyra Slocum, Kaitlynn Tidwell, and Matthew Meadows; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Fefe.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., at the graveside, in Oak Hill Cemetery with The Reverend Charles Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:30 until 12:30 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home.
