Betty Louise Kight, born on July 2, 1934, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 91.
A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Frances Margaret Hawkins; her step-dad Rueben Ponder, her beloved husband Gene Tunney Kight; her brother Lee Nichols; and her dear great-great-grandson, Easton Martin.
Surviving her legacy are her cherished daughters, Judy (Gerald) Simpson, Pat (Elmo) Hill, and Peggy Pulliam. Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren: Stacey (Jay) Williams, Kim (Wes) Ferguson, Missy (Tony) Ayers, Connie Permenter, Londa (Jared) Lischkge, and Melia Pulliam (Nate Fry). Betty was also blessed with the joy of 15 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews who will always hold her memory close to their hearts.
Betty had a passion for gardening, often turning her yard into a breathtaking tapestry of flowers. Her eye for beauty extended indoors, where she delighted in decorating her home. A woman of Baptist faith, she found comfort and community in her spiritual beliefs. In her quieter moments, she loved to read, and nothing pleased her more than the company of her family.
Visitation for friends and family will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Eli Holcomb, will follow at noon. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Honoring her memory as pallbearers will be Dallas Ferguson, Dylan Ferguson, Ryan Martin, Remington Holcomb, Braxtyn Holcomb, and Stuart Morse.
