Betty Overby

Ms. Betty Sue Brooks Overby, age 72, of 66 Lyons Drive Apt. B 4, Rome, GA, died Thursday, October 26, 2006, in a local hospital.Ms. Overby was born in Floyd County on October 1, 1934, the daughter of the late Henry Grady and Susie Phene Morgan Brooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Wilkerson Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, taking care of her family, shopping at QVC, cooking, and liked her purses. Ms. Overby is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Nicole Overby of Rome, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Mullis of Rome and the late Charles Mullis; Lessa and Tommy Jones of Rome and Tammy and Gary Towe of Coosa, GA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Emily Brooks of Rome; and five sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Marion Lewis of Rome, Wanda Kelley of Lindale, GA, Sylvia and John Drake of Rome, Gayle and Danny Watson of Calhoun, GA, and June and James Storey of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2006, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.Ms. Overby will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and at other hours can be contacted at 66 Lyons Drive Apt. B 4.The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home by 1:30 P.M. on Saturday: Chad and Tommy Jones, Dylan Overby, Chuck Mullis, Gary Towe, and Matt Brewer.
