Betty Owens

Mrs. Betty Sue Owens, age 73, of 6 Sycamore Street, Rome, GA, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, in a local hospital.Mrs. Owens was born in Floyd County on December 18, 1931, daughter of the late James (Jim) and Hattie Amerson Bledsoe. She retired from Northwest Regional Hospital and attended East Calhoun Church of God. In addition to her parents, Mrs Owens is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Rachael Earhart and Gordon Dowdy, Jr. and two sisters, Mamie Richardson and Flora Mae Cochran.Mrs. Owens is survived by her husband, Robert (Donald) Owens of Rome, GA,to whom she married on October 6, 1962; one son Ronald Owens of Rome, GA; five daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Dowdy of Rome, GA, Teresa and James (Darrell) Cagle of Rome, GA, Marilyn Lively of Rome, GA, Rita and Barry Duvall of Rome, GA, and Patsy Earhart of Adairsville, GA; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Chapman of Rome, GA and Doris Thomas of Woodstock, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 23, 2005, at 3:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.Mrs. Owens will remain in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M.The grandsons have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Sunday by 2:30 P.M.: Justin Lively, Scott Overby, Matthew Duvall, Brad Owens, Billy Dowdy, Joe Dowdy, and Josh Edwards.
