Betty Ray

July 6, 1921 — January 13, 2011

A virtuous woman, Betty Louise Ray, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born in Walton County, July 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Willerson and the late Nellie Lou Stewart Willerson. Preceding her in death along with her parents are her husband, George Wesley Ray; her sons, Jerome, Wilton and Bobby Ray; four sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Ray was the oldest living member of Blue Pond Baptist Church where she was active in the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed cooking and loved all the Pastors and the church along with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Don Cowart of Cassville, Pat (Trish) and Jerry Knight of Cartersville; her son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Vanita Ray of Kingston; her brothers, Oscar H. Willerson of Adairsville, Raymond Willerson of Maine; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and special friend, Shirley Roudebush.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Blue Pond Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Cowart, Rev. Harry Carter and Rev. J. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ray will be carried to the church on Saturday to lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Ray, Lee Ray, Josh Cowart, Chad Knight, Ron Knight, Will Ray, Courtney Ray and Heath Garlin. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Billy Spears will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 4 � 8 p.m. Friday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville, Georgia.
