Billy Malone Brackett, 66, of Autumn Years Assisted Living passed away on June 22, 2007 at Heartland Hospice in Cartersville. Born August 17, 1940 in Mableton, he was the son of the late Odell and Teen Brackett. He had been a funeral director for 30 years, was a barber, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Billy found his true calling at a very young age – his love of music carried Billy through Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia playing with various musical groups.
In May of 2006 Billy moved into Autumn Years Assisted Living where he continued to play his music. The residents of Autumn Years received a great blessing by listening to him play and sing. When he felt well enough, Billy and a group of friends would visit other assisted living facilities and churches to play music and sing. The Lord richly blessed Autumn Years by sending Billy with his many talents to them.
Billy also had a great love for the Lord and for other people. When other residents of Autumn Years were in need, Billy would go to their room and pray with them. Billy brought great pleasure to Autumn Years, and they will love and cherish his memory forever. The Lord has blessed Autumn Years as well as He allowed Billy to bless others. The residents and staff of Autumn Years are proud to have had Billy as part of their Christian family.
Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Ann King of Dothan, Alabama; his sons, Anthony Wayne Brackett of East Point, Richard Malone Brackett of Cobb County and Tracy Brackett; his sister, Mary Ellen Matthews of Jasper; special friends, Ken and Diane Ross, Zack and Diane Knox, and Mary Mullinax; and other special friends upon whom Billy had an impact.
A memorial service to celebrate Billy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21 at Autumn Years Assisted Living, 60 Massell Dr. SE, Cartersville, GA 30121.
