Billy Worthington Sr., a beloved member of the Rome, GA community, passed away on Monday, June 22nd, 2026. Born on Friday, August 5th, 1960, Billy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service.

Billy served his country with honor, dedicating 20 years to the U.S. Army before retiring and embarking on a distinguished career with the U.S. Postal Service. Known for his unwavering work ethic and commitment, he touched many lives in his professional journey.

Billy was a treasured family man, deeply devoted to his wife, Michelle Worthington, and their wonderful family. He is survived by his children: Billy Joe Worthington Jr. (Jessica), Britney Worthington, Stephanie Smith (Les), Amanda Walls (Branden), and Katlin Brawner (Tyler). Cherished as a grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren: Lindsay Rizo (Luis), Tifton Worthington, Righley Worthington, Preston Tinsley, Amilee Heath, Destinii Jackson, Abby Heath, Camden Heath, Caroline Walls, Dallas Walls, Elliott Brawner, and Baby Brawner, along with his great-grandchildren, Grayson Rizo and Ashton Rizo. Billy is also survived by his brother Bobby Worthington (Mary).

His parents, Dan and Linda Worthington, preceded him in death, and he now joins them in eternal peace.

Billy enjoyed life's simple pleasures—spending time with his grandchildren, the tranquil task of cutting grass, and the thrill of hunting. His love for the outdoors was shared with his wife through hiking adventures, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

A graveside service at 9:30 a.m. will be held at Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. For those attending, please make sure to be at the cemetery no later than 9:20 a.m.

Billy Worthington Sr.'s legacy will endure a testament to a life well-lived, driven by love, service, and adventure.
