Blanche Childers

Mrs. Blanche Louise Montgomery Childers, age 89, of Rome, GA, died Friday, October 9, 2009, in a local hospital following an extended illness.



Mrs. Childers was born in Iron City, TN on October 28, 1919, the daughter of the late Roy Montgomery and Willie Mae Woods Montgomery. She lived in Pottstown, PA for over thirty-five years and was a member of the Eastern Star in Pottstown, PA. Mrs. Childers was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. In addition to her parents Mrs. Childers was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Oda Childers; a grandson, Jason Zachary Childers; a brother, Donald Montgomery; brother-in-law, Lewis �Buddy� Locklear; and a granddaughter-in-law, Kathleen Mary Hug.



Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry R. and Annette Childers of Pottstown, PA; a daughter and her mother�s companion, Shirley Shuker of Rome; three grandchildren and their spouses, Michelle and Frank Morgan of Rome, Robert Hug of Reading, PA, and Ryan and Sherry Hug of Rome; four great-grandchildren, Michael Hug of Reading, PA, Matthew Hug of Reading, PA, Madison Morgan of Rome, and Christopher Morgan of Rome; a sister, Thelma Locklear of Rome; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Montgomery and Jimmy and Gertie Montgomery all of Florence, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Graveside and interment services will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Dr. Dale Levan officiating.



The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home.
