Blanche Louise Steele Rhyne of Brunswick and Rome, Georgia, died Monday, January 7, 2008, at Magnolia Manor Long Term Care Facility in Brunswick, GA
Louise was born June 30, 1916 in Oconee County and was the daughter of the late Coile Steele and Florence Buckhalter Steele.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Emory Rhyne, to whom she was married in October 1940; and two brothers, Robert Steele of Macon, GA and Pope Steele of Union Pont, GA.
She was a member of North Board Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Louise served as the financial and records secretary for the church office for fifteen years and retired in 1990. Louise also served many years as the Nursery Coordinator at the church.
Survivors include a son, Colonel Jerry Rhyne and wife, Lynn, of Brunswick, GA; a granddaughter, Sabrina Louise Croft and husband, Adam, of Greensboro, NC; a grandson, Christopher, and wife, Erika, of Dallas, TX. She had one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Lynn Rhyne of Dallas, TX.
Two sisters, Geneva Huff and Shirley Steele, of Union Point, GA, and three brothers, Leroy Steele of Rome, GA, C.H. Steele of Hobe Sound, FL and Joel Steele of Union Point, GA, are also survivors. A number of nieces and nephews survive their Aunt Louise.
Funeral services will be held at Jennings Funeral Home, North Broad Street, in Rome on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Hugh Peacock, Dr. Tony Brooks and Rev. Katrina Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at East View Cemetery in Rome, GA
The family will receive friends at 12:30 PM until the funeral hour in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Thursday. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Thursday by 1:30 P.M: Roy Echols, Phil Carter, Jimmy Finney, Joe Momon, J.D. Nolan, Larry Meeks, Phil Hall, and David Henderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to North Broad Baptist Church Building Fund, 1309 North Broad Street, Rome, GA 30161.
