Mrs. Bobbie June Steele Higgins, age 80, of the Rosedale community, Rome, GA, died, Sunday, November 11, 2007, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Higgins was born in Floyd County, GA, on September 18, 1927, the daughter of the late John Olin Steele and Pearl Mae Self Steele. Mrs. Higgins grew up in the Tubize's Community and graduated from Model High School. She retired from Southern Bell and was a member of North Rome Methodist Church. Mrs. Higgins was a former member of the Telephone Pioneers Club and Garden Lakes Homemaker Club. She loved her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Higgins enjoyed sewing and baking. In addition to her parents Mrs. Higgins is preceded in death by her husband, William Noah Higgins to whom she was married on January 27, 1951 and a brother, John Olin Steele, Jr.

Mrs. Higgins is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Rusty Higgins of Canton, GA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Harriet Kiser of Rome and Janet and Doug Townsend of Chipley, FL; four grandchildren, Erin Holloway of Rome, Kari Futch and her husband, Joe of Fayetteville, NC, Katie Kiser of Rome, and Clair Higgins of Canton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Mize of Rome, Katherine and Tom Centola of Rome, and Norma Jane and Joe Hurley of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Also, her companion, a Golden Retriever, "Otto", survives.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at 3:00 P.M. in the Transfiguration Episcopal Church with Father Michael Owens officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 P.M. until the memorial service in the Transfiguration Episcopal Church.
