Mrs. Bobbie Satterfield Rush, age 84, formerly of 623 Kingfisher Circle, Rome, GA, died Friday evening, May 9, 2008, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Rush was born in Ballground, GA, on June 8, 1923, the daughter of the late Andrew B. and Cornelia Edwards Satterfield. She had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County for the greater part of her life. Mrs. Rush had been associated with Celanese Fibers for a number of years until their closing, then went to work with General Electric for over 8 years. She had been a member of the Celanese Baptist Church prior to moving to West Rome in 1960 and for over 45 years was a faithful member of the Garden Lakes Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending. Mrs. Rush was a thoughtful and loving caregiver to her husband, Donald Rush, and her mother for several years. She enjoyed regular dinners with family and spending time with special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Rush, on September 27, 2007, to whom she was married on October 26, 1940. A son, Charles Howard "Buddy" Rush, a granddaughter, Robin Smith, three brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rush is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Joan Rush of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Decky Smith of Silver Creek, GA; three grandchildren, Andrew Smith of Silver Creek, April Peek of Rome, and Amiee and her husband James Turner of Rome; seven great-grandchildren, Jamie Lively, Brett Peek, Zack Turner, Matthew Turner, Anna Turner, Bo Turner, and Abbie Turner. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rush will be held Monday, May 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Garden Lakes Baptist Church Buddy Rush Memorial Fund, or the Building Fund, 2200 Redmond Circle, Rome, Georgia 30165.
