Bobby Hobgood

Mr. Bobby Royce Hobgood, 59, of Fairmount, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Rome. He was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on December 27, 1953 and was the son of Arlie Royce Hobgood and Virginia Howren Hobgood.
Mr. Hobgood is of the Baptist faith and was a kind, sweet and caring person. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting coins and watching the Atlanta Falcons. Bobby served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He loaded ordinance on the aircraft on both the aircraft carriers, the USS Intrepid and the USS Forrestal. Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Frank Hobgood, Molly Abrams Hobgood, Frank O'Neal Howren and Alma Chloe Kelly.
Survivors include his parents, Royce and Virginia Hobgood of Fairmount; his daughters and sons-in-law, Brittany and Matthew Gielen of New York, NY and Amy and Cody Wilkinson of Tucson, AZ; his grandson, Cash Wilkinson of Tucson, AZ; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah Hobgood and Robert Murfin of Inlet Beach, FL and Rebecca and Jason Barfield of Dallas; his brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Catherine Hobgood of Powder Springs; his nieces, Rachel Hobgood of Powder Springs, Sophia Barfield and Marisa Barfield of Dallas; and his nephew, Daniel Hobgood of Powder Springs.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with The Reverend Rick Langston and The Reverend Ronnie Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Barfield, Daniel Hobgood, Dale Hornbuckle, Greg Hornbuckle, Robert Murfin and Rick Townsend.
