Boyd Lowery, 73, of Cartersville died Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Wellstar Windy Hill Hospital. A native of Bartow County, he was born December 8, 1935 and was the son of the late G.H. Lowery and the late Corrine Dyar Lowery. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, David, Horace, Clyde and Buford Lowery; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pete and Lula Duncan; his sister-in-law, Betty Duncan; and his brothers-in-law, Melvin Duncan and Steve Barbier.
Boyd was a member of Atco Baptist Church where he had taught Sunday school and had worked with the youth program. He was a produce manager for many years with area grocery stores. He also drove a city school bus for years. Boyd loved hunt and fish in his younger years and had the best green beans in town from his garden. He was also well known across town for his chocolate cake.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Shirley Lowery of Cartersville; his children and their spouses, Billy Lowery of Port Nachez, Texas, Elizabeth and Dennis Womack of Cartersville, and Kenny and Tina Lowery of Cartersville; his grandchildren and their spouses, Marc and Christie Womack, Joseph and Nell Womack, Brett and Tess Womack, Jacob Womack, Lauren Lowery, and Lindsey Lowery; a great-granddaughter, Adahlyn Womack; his brother and sister-in-law, W.C. and Doris Lowery; his sisters and brother-in-law, Annie Lee Teague, Edith Bryant, Martha Ann McEver, Dottie and Senate Wilson, and Joyce Hayward; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eunice Keith, Mary Barbier, Juanita Cantrell, Pat and Donnie Griggs, J.L. and Patsy Duncan, Charles Duncan, Randy and Carolyn Duncan, Keith and Donna Duncan, and Toni Duncan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Atco Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Curlee and Rev. Carl Billue officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Marc Womack, Joseph Womack, Brett Womack, Jacob Womack, Scotty Scott, and Jack Smith. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Rather than sending flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Atco Baptist Church, 20 Parmenter St., Cartersville, GA 30120.
The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
