Brenda Colleen Nix

Brenda Colleen Cornett Nix, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on Wednesday, December 18, 1946, Brenda was a lifelong resident of Cartersville, GA, where she cultivated a warm and loving home.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Joe Nix, whose love and partnership were cherished throughout their long marriage. Together, they raised a wonderful family, including their children Teresa (Mike) West, Darla (Jeff) Hall, Keith Nix, and Russell Nix. Brenda was the proud grandmother of Amber, Allison, Darian, and Thomas, and a great-grandmother to Reagan, Rhett, Remi, Quilly, Archie, Banks, Renleigh, and Bowen. Her nurturing spirit and infectious laughter will forever echo in the hearts of her family.

She leaves behind her siblings Gayle Payne and James (Cille) Cornett, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, Elijah and Agnes Cornett, and her siblings Warren, Henry, Everett "Fuzz," Wayne, Harry Cornett, Madeline Sligh, and Lillian Bearden.

A cherished member of the Gateway Church, Brenda found joy and solace in her faith. Her love for family gatherings was matched by her passion for travel, both of which brought joy and adventure into her life and those around her.

The family invites Brenda's friends and loved ones to celebrate her life at a funeral service on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Pastor Sammy Burgess will officiate the service. Following the ceremony, Brenda will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Purvine, Danny Hendrix, Jerrod Hurst, David Bennett, Randy Jenkins, and Jeff Baynard.

The family welcomes flowers and contributions in Brenda's honor to the Gateway Church Building Fund. They extend their deepest gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time.
