Byrd McCollum, 82, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away in his home on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
Born in Cartersville on October 9, 1941, he was the son of the late William Virgil McCollum and the late Bessie Quinn McCollum. Byrd is also preceded in death by his son, Rodney McCollum, his loving wife Marzelle Jones McCollum, four brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include his son, Nick (Juliana) McCollum; grandchildren, Caroline McCollum and Geoffrey McCollum; sister, Joyce (Sammy) Neal; and brothers, Larry (Jeanette) McCollum, and Bobby McCollum; and many nieces and nephews.
Byrd was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He worked as a machinist mechanic for Clorox (Glad) Corporation for 30 years upon retiring. He enjoyed farming and giving away most of what he grew. Always ready to help anyone in need, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
