Caren Hurley

January 4, 1963 — December 26, 2023

Caren Hurley, of Atlanta, Georgia, sadly passed away on December 26, 2023 at her home.  She was 60 years old.  She was born in Cheverly, Maryland on January 4, 1963 to Ronald Crowe and Doris G. Poling.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl Knight and Sara Hurley; mother, Doris G. Poling; father, Ronald N. Crowe; siblings, Constance Crowe Johnson and Eric Crowe; nieces Brittany Johnson Lyman, Tara Crowe, and Cali Crowe; nephew Christopher Johnson; and great nephew, Marcus Lyman.

Caren was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She loved to laugh and she loved to hear others laugh.  She enjoyed talking to people, antique stores, Victorian style homes and decorations; she liked oriental rugs, visiting the Dollar Store and Walgreens, crocheting (she crocheted a Barbie Sweater!), drawing, coloring, taking rides to the mountains and beaches, cooking, and making cards.  She loved music and singing; she listened to different genres from disco to pop (Madonna, Nelly Furtado and beyond) to all decades of rock classics like David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin.

She could often be found gardening.  She loved to nurture things and watch them grow; her favorite flower was Hibiscus.  She had a gardening book she read to make sure all plants and flowers were properly cared for.

Some favorite memories from her girls include the time Cheryl stayed home from school so Caren could take her to the Braves Parade in 1995 when they won the world series.  She took a ton of pictures and bought Cheryl and herself World Series Championship shirts and then went to a nearby café and ate.  Going to cafes, getting coffees and talking was one of Cheryl and Sara's favorite thing to do with their mom.  Caren would sing loudly to Usher in the car with Sara and her friends; and she would dance in the store isles with her sister, Connie.

Caren would mostly want to be remembered as a mom.  She would tell David that it was her dream to have a family of her own.  She was a wonderful cook and wanted to always help others with babysitting, taking care of clients at the salon and caring for the elderly at the nursing home.
