Carl Carney

February 15, 1928 — November 14, 2008

Mr. Carl Winton Carney, age 80, of 4269 Everett Springs Road, Rome, GA, died November 14, 2008 in a local nursing home.



Mr. Carney was born in Floyd County, GA the son of the late Earnest Carney and Kate Barnett Carney. He served in the United States Army and retired from GE as a General Foreman. Mr. Carney enjoyed farming and hunting. Also, he was a loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents Mr. Carney was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Emogene Barton Carney; four brothers; and three sisters.



Survivors include a son, Tim Carney of Armuchee, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, C.J. and Jim Haynes of Gainesville, GA and Becky and Mike Pardue of Armuchee, GA; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Angie and David Coker of Gainesville, GA, Adam Courson of Armuchee, GA, Justin and Shanda Lott of Lula, GA, Cody Pardue of Lula, GA, Casey Pardue of Armuchee, GA, Annie Carney of Rome, and Kate and Michael Long of Armuchee, GA; and two great-grandchildren, Drew and Reece Coker of Gainesville, GA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 16, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Holsomback and Mr. Pearson Pardue officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.



The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church on Sunday by 1:30 P.M.: Tommy Gonzalez, Ernie Pierce, Harold Pierce, Winfred Jones, Freddy Jones, and Larry Jones.



Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Association of your choice or to the American Diabetes Association, 3 Corporate Square, Suite 120, Kennesaw, GA. 30144.
