Carl "Bill" Shook

Carl William "Bill" Shook, 90, of Cartersville, Georgia, was welcomed home surrounded by his family on March 6, 2024. He was born in Cartersville, Georgia on May 6, 1933 to the late John Shook and the late Amanda Ledford Shook. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Shook, Grady Shook, Marlon Shook, and Vernie Shook; sisters Bonnie Roberson, Ruth Baker, and Naomi Mulkey; step sons Eddie Godfrey and Johnny Godfrey; and a son-in-law, Lawrence White.
Bill was a simple man who loved his family. He was a loving husband and a great father to many; He loved to serve the Lord and was a Deacon for Oakland Heights Baptist Church for 50 years. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his family. His family loved him more than words could say and will miss him deeply.
Survivors include his adoring wife of 14 years, Ann Prewett Shook; children Susan Greene and John Shook; step children Tony (Tricia) Payne, David (Kendall) Payne, Cindy Payne, Rick (Jayne) Godfrey, Debbie (Jerry) Chambers, Phyllis White and Mike (Vivian) Godfrey; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the funeral home with Joe McKaig and James Dekoker officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving pallbearers will be selected deacons of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
