Carol Ellis

Mrs. Martha Carolyn Couch Ellis, age 71, affectionately known as Carol, of 1293 Old Rockmart Road, Silver Creek, GA, passed away on August 2, 2004, at Floyd Medical Center, where she had been a patient for 20 days.Mrs. Ellis was born on March 27, 1933, in Cave Spring, GA, in the home of her grandparents. She was a long-time member of the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church of Silver Creek, where she was instrumental in establishing the Prayer Garden. Until her health began to decline, she was an active member of the New Creatures Sunday School Class, Baptist Women and the Prime Timers. Mrs. Ellis retired in 1994 after working for several years as an assistant to Dr. Robert Powell, dentist, in Rome. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Jim Couch, who died in March 1994. Also preceding her in death was her parents, Linton and Clara Purdy Baker, and a brother, Jimmy Baker.Mrs. Ellis is survived by her husband, Dr. Wes Ellis, retired pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church of Silver Creek, to whom she was married on March 11, 2000; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Cindy) Primm of Chesapeake, VA, and Mrs. Rich (Vicki) Lafayette of Cumming, GA; a son, Wade Couch of Hixon, TN; a sister, Mrs. Joyce Tucker of Gainesville, GA; three granddaughters, Mrs. Kevin (Courtney) Parker, Miss Amanda Primm and Miss Laura McCranie; a grandson, David Fleming; a great-granddaughter, Claire Parker; a step-grandson, Richard Lafayette; a step-granddaughter, Danielle Lafayette, a niece, Mrs. Greg (April) Lunsford; a great-nephew and great-niece, Cody and Ashley Lunsford. Several cousin, and various other relatives also survive.The family will receive friends at the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church this (Wednesday) afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. Dr. Phil May, pastor, Fred Barr and Dr. Floyd Battles, Sr. will be in charge.
