Carrie Windham, age 100, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her residence. Born in Opp, Alabama on November 27, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Marion J. Mehaffey and the late Betty Elizabeth Jimmerson Mehaffey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Brannon; two sons, Reginal and Russell Windham; two sisters, Era Mae Morrison and Stella Phillips; and a brother, Clevie Mehaffey. She was retired from Bibb Manufacturing in Columbus, Ga. where she was employed from 1946 to 1972. Mrs. Windham was a member of White Rock Assembly of God in Ladonia, Alabama. She was a Godly woman and was very active in the church where she taught Sunday School. She had many hobbies such as sewing, crocheting, making quilts, gardening, cooking and caring for the sick.
Survivors include her son, W. Ramon "Bill" Windham and his wife, JoAnn of Cartersville; her brother, Lloyd L. Mehaffey of Ventson, Alabama; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Oak Hill Cemetery with The Bishop Mark Flemming officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
