Emily "Catherine" Edwards passed away December 22, 2024. Catherine was born October 08, 1926, in Cartersville, Ga. She was loved as a mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Baserap; mother, Georgia Guyton Baserap; husband, Charles Royce Edwards; son, Charles Donald Edwards.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Edwards (Vickie), grandson, Tyler Edwards (Mandi), great granddaughter Ava Madison Edwards and baby Edwards due in March 2025.
Catherine owned and retired from Edwards Tax Service. She loved what she did and made many lifelong friends along the way. Prior to opening her own business, she was a substitute teacher for the Bartow County School System, worked at Edmondson Tax Service and also worked for the Corps of Engineers where she worked to help procure the land to build Allatoona Lake.
She was the oldest living member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was a very active member until health issues in later years kept her from attending on a regular basis. She taught Sunday School at Friendship for 30 plus years. She loved reading and studying the Bible and completed several Biblical courses during her adult years to help with her studying and understanding of the Bible.
Catherine loved to travel and in earlier years she was able to travel during summer vacations with her husband and sons to various baseball stadiums around the United States and Canada. She loved to watch baseball and football, and her favorite baseball team was the Braves; favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. In recent years she loved to travel to St. Simons Island with her family and was able to take a recent trip in November. She loved to eat out and one of her favorite places to eat was the Woodland Grill at Barnsley Gardens. Catherine was involved and donated to many, many charities, including sending Bibles to soldiers and translating the Bible into other languages. She was involved with the Bartow Seniors Center Group, enjoyed their various activities and was a member of the Red Hats for years. She loved to read and read thousands of books during her lifetime and donated books to encourage others to read as well.
She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially her great granddaughter, Ava and was very excited about her second great granddaughter due in March.
Visitation for Catherine Edwards will be at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home Tuesday, December 31, 2024, 12:00 to 2:00, Funeral at 2:00. The service will be conducted by Parnick Jennings and Paul Battles.
Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church who are Carroll Hamilton, Jeff Woody, Tony Carroll, Steve Arp, Ennis Denham, and Steve Rogers.
