Mr. Cecil Franklin Barnes, age 91, of 93 Meadows Drive, Rome, GA. died Monday, November 17, 2008.



Mr. Barnes was born July 22, 1917 in Bartow County, GA. son of the late Nathan J. Barnes and Minnie Mae Lanham. He had spent most of his life in Rome and Floyd County. Prior to retirement had been employed by Trend Mills of Plainville. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mr. Barnes enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was affectionately known by �Paw� to Erin Davenport and many other children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jewel Payne Barnes, January 20, 2000; his son Billy Barnes in September, 2003; his grandsons, Randy and Lamar Barnes; sisters, Sara Darnell, Lois Johnston and Frances Branton; brother, Howard Barnes.



Survivors include his son, Gary Barnes of Rome; daughters, Ruth Barnes of Rome and Patsy Adair of Adairsville; sisters, Dorothy Bowen of Rome and Audrey (Milton) Langham of Kingston; eleven grandchildren: fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren also survive.



Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Russell officiating. Interment will be held in the Barnsley United Methodist Church Cemetery.



The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home and at other hours the family

may be contacted at the residence of his daughter, Patsy Adair, 257 Tipperary Drive, Adairsville, Ga.



The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers and are asked to meet

Wednesday at 1:30 P.M.: Curtis Brown, Stephen Folds, Charles Adair, Jeffrey Adair,

Austin Long and Stacey Tudor. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Grigsby and Al Poole.
