Cecil Blalock, Sr.

Cecil Jerrell Blalock, Sr. age 80, passed away on March 26, 2012, at his residence in Cartersville, Georgia. He was born in Mentone, Alabama, November 19, 1931, and was the son of the late Cecil Richard Blalock and the late Lillie Jewell Stoker Blalock. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Underwood Blalock.



Mr. Blalock was employed in auto body repair in the Cleveland and Chattanooga area for 32 years. He was a veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Blalock was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God for over 20 years before moving to Cartersville in 1994 where he has been a member of the Church of God at Liberty Square until his death.



He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Cyndi and Dr. Jim Allen and Angela Blalock all of Cartersville; and a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Jerrell Blalock, Jr., and Patricia Blalock of Cleveland, TN. He has five grandchildren, Doctors Kristy and Brad Rostad of Atlanta, Tiffany and David Hawkins of Cleveland, TN, Gerrod Blalock, Tehya Blalock both of Cleveland, and Alexis Blalock of Cartersville; one great-grandchild, Nathan Hawkins of Cleveland, TN; and one brother, Leonard Lee Blalock of Princeton, LA.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, in the chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN with Dr. Joe E. Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.



The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.



Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Brad Rostad, Gerrod Blalock, David Hawkins, Melvin Underwood, Dale Underwood, Randy Underwood and Joe Underwood, Jr.
