Charles Vernon Ayers, 82, of Kingston passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Cartersville Heights Nursing and Rehab Center. Born July 21, 1928 in Blue Ridge, he was the husband of the late Helen S. Ayers.
Mr. Ayers was a graduate of Rhinehart College and received his bachelors degree in English from The University of Georgia. A long time resident of Bartow County, Mr. Ayers was a former editor of the old Bartow Herald and a former mayor of the city of Kingston. Later he assisted his wife, Helen S. Ayers, in operating a fine antiques shop in Kingston.
Survivors include his stepchildren, George F. Willis and his wife, Kathy, of Cartersville; John P. Willis, and Helen W. Ward of Atlanta.
Private memorial services will be held for family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Etowah Valley Humane Society, 36 Ladds Mountain Rd. NW, Cartersville, GA 30120.
