Charles Shaw

October 23, 1944 — July 19, 2010

Charles J. Shaw, 65, of Marietta passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 23, 1944 in Adairsville, he was the son of the late William Henry Shaw and the late Bertha Mae Dowling Shaw.



Charles was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a military intelligence coordinator during Vietnam. After his military service, he went to work with Southern Bell where he worked until his retirement as a manager of information systems. Charles was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and also served as an assistant scout master with the Boy Scouts of America.



Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Elyse Shaw of Statesboro; his granddaughter, Meagan Shaw of Statesboro; his sisters, Willa Mae Levy of Wood-Ridge, New Jersey and Susan Dotson of Rome.



A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Georgia National Cemetery with full military honors. Chaplain Jan Blackburn will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
