Charles Hendricks Sr.

July 16, 1944 — September 19, 2010

Charles A. Hendricks Sr., 66, of Cartersville went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2010 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born July 16, 1944 in Maryville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Thomas Bradley Hendricks and the late Beatrice Boiling Hendricks. He was also recently preceded in death by his mother-in-law, L. Jo Hamilton, and his brother-in-law, Carter D. Perry.



Charles served in the United States Air Force and was a former law enforcement officer for 21 years. He was currently employed with B & B Investors and was a member of Atco Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Charles was also a member of the Cartersville Masonic Lodge #63 and the Order of the Eastern Star Cartersville Chapter #329 where he was currently serving as Worthy Patron.



Charles enjoyed collecting and was a true fan of The University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. Church visitation was most enjoyable for him as was chairing the Deacon Senior Care Ministry at Atco Baptist Church. Charles enjoyed eating out with friends and family, and he treasured the fellowship time the most.



During his illness Charles often expressed his gratitude for the care he was given by his doctors and the entire staff of The Hope Center, Tammy Bennett of Amedisys Hospice Services, and Winnie Chesley of Floyd Medical Center.



Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Jean Hamilton Hendricks; devoted children and their spouses, Chuck and Paula Hendricks and LaCinda and Billy Jones, all of Cartersville; his grandchildren, Christiane Cochran of Athens (UGA), Ariel Hendricks, BreAnna Jones, and Nolan Hendricks, all of Cartersville; his sister, Shirley Perry of Cartersville; his brother, Tom Hendricks of Matthews, North Carolina, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carroll and Vickie Hamilton and Lowry and Lesia Hamilton, all of Cartersville; several nieces and nephews; and several special friends.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Atco Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Hamrick, Rev. Marc Curlee, Rev. Charles Ivey, and Rev. John Lemon officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.



Serving as pallbearers will be Harry Green, Ray Southern, J.L. Duncan, Billy Womack, George Bean, Gerald Hillhouse, Carter Wilson, Carroll Hamilton, Lowry Hamilton, Jimmy Morris, Jimmy Amos, and Randy Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Atco Baptist Church, members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Cartersville Chapter #329 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nolan Hendricks, Robert Coey, Charles and Betty Chastain, Ronnie and Ann Stoner, Angie Morris, Winnie Chesley, Faye Green, Sandra Southern, Bill Sweatt, and Berlon Cothran.



The family will receive friends from 4 � 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
