Charles Thacker

Mr. Charles Junior Thacker, 88, of Cartersville passed away Saturday, December 01, 2012 at his residence.
Born on February 2, 1929 in Cartersville he was the son of the late Charles Thacker and the late Alma Teems Thacker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda May Ealy Thacker. Charles served his country in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. He later retired as a truck mechanic after being employed by the City of Atlanta for twenty-five years. He was a member of the Oakdale Church of God in Smyrna. Charles enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling; he loved being a native of Bartow County so he especially enjoyed coming home. He was a very kind and compassionate person and will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Thacker of Cartersville; his granddaughter, Ashley Thacker of Sweetwater, Tennessee; his great-granddaughter, Marlee Thacker of Sweetwater, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Joe Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Emerson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
