Mr. Charlie W. McEntire, age 96, of Rome, GA, died Friday, December 17, 2010 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. McEntire was born in Rome, GA on August 20, 1914, the son of the late William Oscar McEntire and Cinda Rilla Couey McEntire. Mr. McEntire was a retired millwright with the Georgia Power Company. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Mr. McEntire was avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents Mr. McEntire was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Scott McEntire and by his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Charles W. McEntire, Jr. and Gary Scott McEntire; grandchildren, Charles W. McEntire, III, Zachary Len McEntire, Phillip Lane McEntire and Edy Holcomb Neal; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Donald McEntire and a sister Matilda Buffington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Hoyt Coker and Dr. Bill Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Salmon Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday at the Heritage Chapel from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
