Rev. George E.�Buddy� Chastain, 77, of Cartersville went to be with his Heavenly Father, Monday, May 02, 2011 at Maple Ridge Health and Rehab. Born in Gordon County on July 12, 1933, Rev. Chastain was the son of the late George Mitchell Chastain and the late Margaret Elizabeth Gosswick Chastain. Preceding him in death are his parents and two sisters.



Rev. Chastain pastored for most of his adult life starting with Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Adairsville, Corinth Baptist in Cartersville, Pleasant Hill Baptist in Kingston, New Hope Baptist in Hokes Bluff, Alabama, Eastview Baptist and Northwood Baptist both in Rome, Mt. Olive Baptist in Canton, Dogwood Hills Baptist in Waleska and Northside Methodist Church in Cartersville. He was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army.



He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy Ann Cole Chastain; his children and their spouses, Melody and Lamar Pendley, Shari and Ricky Stepp, Rev. George and Pam Chastain, Wayne and Deanna Chastain, Misty and B.J. Jones and Cole Chastain; his thirteen grandchildren and his five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Larman Self officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 8 p.m. Tuesday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Road, Cartersville.



Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday and will include: Jayce Stepp, Tyler Chastain, Brett Chastain, Matt Chastain, Jacob Chastain and Bryce Jones. Masons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
