Mr. Clarence Edward Aust, age 72, of Rome, GA died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Aust was born in Sunflower, MS. on July 9, 1937, son of the late Henry Clinton Aust and Mattie Blanche Abernathy Aust. Mr. Aust retired in 2001 from Mohawk Industries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Christ but at the time of his death attended Coosa Vallley Praise and Worship. Mr. Aust loved working in his garden and doing other outside work with his John Deere tractor. He loved playing his guitar and listening to gospel and country music and watching western television programs. In addition to his parents Mr. Aust was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Aust.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Rogers Aust, to whom he was married August 24, 1988; son, Allen Aust of Rome, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ricky Burnley of Rome, GA; ex-wife, Ruthy McCain of Rome, GA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, James and his wife Lillian Aust of N.C. and Paul Aust of Texas. Two nephews and three nieces also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, April 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings & Miller Funeral Home.
