Clarence Sligh

March 24, 1925 — November 11, 2009

Clarence S. Sligh, 84, of Cartersville died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Sligh was born in Paulding County, March 24, 1925, and was the son of the late J.A. Sligh and the late Georgiana Ruff Sligh.



He retired from Chemical Products Corporation in 1990 after 42 years of service. Mr. Sligh enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a huge Braves fan and loved watching NASCAR racing especially Dale Earnhardt.



Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Madeline Cornett Sligh; his son, Lamar Brock and wife, Joyce; his daughter, Patty Fortner and husband, Doug; his granddaughters, Haley Brock, Erin Morrison and husband, Doug; his great-grandson, Harrison Heath all of Cartersville; his brother-in-law, Harold Rainwater of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Affectionately known as �Papa� by Tara, Tyler, Le Anna, Ryan, Ariel, Nolan, Cole and Reed also survive.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Wayne Rice and Mr. Bill Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with Rev. Nathan Sanders in charge of graveside rites.



Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Brock, Glenn Summey, Randall Brock, �Fuzz� Cornett, Jeff Payne, Mark Cornett and Tyler Scoggins. James Cornett, Phil Bearden, Mike Scoggins, Neal Rainwater and Todd Payne will serve as honorary pallbearers. These gentlemen should meet at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 1:15 p.m., Friday.
