Clarence Whitener

November 26, 1929 — May 23, 2009

Mr. Clarence E. Whitener, 79, of Rydal went to claim his heavenly reward Saturday, May 22, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. Born November 26, 1929 in Bartow County, he was the son of the late Albert Whitener and the late Zona Fields Whitener. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ralph Whitener, Ernest Whitener, Carol Blalock, and Betty Daniels.



Clarence had recently retired from the Bartow County Solid Waste Department and had been employed with Dan River Manufacturing. He was also former employee with Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Clarence enjoyed fishing and traveling to the mountains. Although he and Martha never had children of their own, they were parents to many, many people over the past 50 years. Clarence loved his family, his church � Oak Hill Baptist Church, and his church family.



Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Martha Whitener; his sister, Ann Gibson; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Joan Whitener of Cartersville and Paul Alvin and Annette Whitener of Adairsville; and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Huey Holloway and Rev. I.L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Smith, Doug Moss, Butch Johnson, Clayton Cox, Clarence Hall, and Ronnia Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers are Morris Whitener, Donnie Whitener, Danny Murphy, Alan Whitener, Larry Whitener, Mark Gibson and Charles Gibson. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday.



The family will receive friends from 5 � 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 430 Cassville Rd., Cartersville, GA 30120.
