Claude Whitener

Mr. Claude E. Whitener, 80, of Cartersville, died Friday, February 8, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born September 25, 1932 in White, he was the son of the late James Efford Whitener and the late Nancy Ray Whitener. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, L.C. Whitener and Paul "Jimmy" Whitener; and his sister, Lanell Adcock.
Mr. Whitener served his country in the Army and later owned Captain W's restaurant for twenty-seven years. He loved to travel, was an ordained Baptist minister and a music director at Five Forks Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Haney Whitener of Cartersville; his son, Keith Whitener of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his sisters, Catherine Lee of Cartersville, Dessie Mae Miller of Clearwater, Florida and Margaret Louise Raines of Cartersville; his brother, Mac Whitener of White; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
