Mr. Clifford J. Martin, 94, of Cartersville passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at his residence.
A native of Bartow County, Cliff was born September 19, 1926 to the late Asbury J. Martin and the late Minnie Reagan Martin. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia "Genny" Martin; brother, Edd Martin; sisters, Ethel Padgett, Lola Griffin, Annie Mae Gilbert, and Myrtle Jones; and longtime friend, Jack Worthey.
Cliff served as a Sargent in the United States Army as a Civil Engineer in World War II as a part of the Philippine Campaign. He was a cattleman, a livestock contractor, auctioneer, and an all-around businessman. Cliff was the Bartow County Farm Family of the Year recipient in 2011 and received many other honors and recognitions. Cliff enjoyed bird hunting, playing baseball, and traveling out west to check on his cattle. Cliff was a hard-working individual and made the most of his 94 years. He loved his family and was always willing to help someone who was willing to help themselves.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, too many to list.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Atco Baptist Church with Reverend Corey Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 9 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 and from 12 – 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the funeral home, before going to the church for the funeral hour.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Henderson, Cody Henderson, Keith Fountain, Chris Martin, William Martin, and Parker Martin. Max Barkley, Eddie Goss, Sammy Simmons, Haynie Cochran, Brock Henderson, and the Euharlee Farmers Club will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
