Mr. Clifford W. (C.W.) Lewis, age 73, of 372 Baker Circle S.E., Calhoun, GA, died, Saturday, March 18, 2006, at his residence.Mr. Lewis was born in Polk County, GA, on July 18, 1932, the son of the late David Martin and Lizzie Barnett Lewis. Prior to retirement he was associated with Shaw Industries for number of years. Following retirement he worked a number of years at Crown Crafts. He served in the United States Army and received a good conduct medal and was a deacon of Curryville Baptist Church. Mr. Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing, animals and gardening. He never met a stranger and was very well loved. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by a brother, James (J.D.) Lewis and two sisters, Bertha Mae Thompson and Irene Acrey.Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Imogene (Jean) Nabors Lewis, to whom he was married on December 22, 1951; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Virginia Lewis of Jasper, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Johnny Adams of Chatsworth, GA, and Kathy and James Broome of Plainville, GA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Lewis of Rome, Hugh Lewis and his wife, Agnes of Rome, and Horace Lewis and his wife, Doris of Aragon, GA; and three sisters, Kathleen Boatner of Rome, Reba Childers of Douglas, GA, and Frances Adkins of Rome. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Glass, Rev. Bailey Oliver and Rev. Ryan Sanford officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery with full military graveside rites conferred by the Shanklin-Attaway Post Five of the American Legion.The family received friends Monday evening in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home.The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home on Tuesday by 10:30 A.M.: Eugene Pulliam, Paul Mealer, Mitchell McDougle, Jeff Bohannon, Lon Bearden, David Lewis, Gary Lewis, Jerry Stokes, and Eddie Nabors.Please join Mr. Lewis' family in honoring his life by visiting www.jenningsfuneralhome.com to post tributes and share memories.
