Mr. William "Clyde" Stepp, age 81, of 2620 Maple Road, Rome, GA, died Friday, April 20, 2007, in a local hospital.
Mr. Stepp was born in Floyd County on October 9, 1926, the son of the late Henry and Nora Lloyd Stepp of the Flint Hill Community. He attended Desota Park Baptist Church and retired from R.F. Truesdell Trucking Company. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Stewart and Frank Stepp; and six sisters, Mary Alice Little, Belle Bell, Marie Lawton, Ruth Threat, Mildred Walker, and Bobbie Bishop.
Mr. Stepp is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Sarah Inez Hight Stepp; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Clyde and Patti Stepp; a brother, Hubert B. Stepp; a sister, Claudia Knowles; five grandchildren, William Daniel Stepp, Adam Gray Stepp, Jessica Arien Simmons, John J. Darnell; and Jennifer Lea Parker. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Also a special dog, " Lucy".
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 22, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. J. Holland Thomas and Rev. Scott Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in
Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Stepp will remain in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. and at other hours will be at a son's residence, Danny Stepp, 25 Leisure Drive, Rome, GA.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home by 2:30 P.M. on Sunday: Adam and Daniel Stepp, Randy Hight, Larry Hight, Jackie Hight, and John Darnell. The Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Free.
