Ralph "Corey" Childers, age 45, of Taylorsville, Georgia, sadly passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia.
Born on June 9, 1978, in Cartersville, Georgia, Corey was the son of his loving parents Ralph & Mary Childers.
He is preceded in death by his sister Betty Ann Davis; a close uncle J.W. Wilbanks; his grandparents; and several other uncles, aunts and cousins, all of whom he loved very much.
Corey is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Meridith Childers; his two sons who made him very proud; Dylan Childers (Megann Griffith) and Jacob Childers; his parents Ralph & Mary Childers; his mother and father-in-law Randy & Gail Cochran; his sweet Maltese Holly; his cousin and very close friend Beth Williams (Richard) and their son Donovan Williams (China); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
Corey started his own business, Childers Gas Piping, in 2002, which soon became a family business that employs several family members, including his son Dylan. He was very good at his job, enjoyed serving his community, and had many loyal customers. He had a great liking for the outdoors and enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting, traveling with his family, spending time at the beach, and working on trucks with his boys.
Corey loved his wife Meridith and his boys Dylan and Jacob unconditionally. Everything he did was to provide for and support them. He was a good man who always put his family before himself. Corey was the kind of person that would give a stranger his last dollar and was the embodiment of selflessness. He was an incredible husband, father, and friend. While Corey will be missed terribly, he will forever be loved and never forgotten.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home, with Russell Murdock and Ricky Roberts officiating. An interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the funeral home for a visitation. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Williams, Donovan Williams, Jody Agan, David Collins, Buck Buckner, Matt Buckner, and Jason Hyde.
